Stenden cbss University students do this year to the DONG Energy Solar Challenge in a bio-based solar boat, gamaakt of durable material flax. The boat is thus not made only durable, but also once lighter than the 'normal' boat last year.
The solar boat race, which takes place from June 28 to July 5 in Groningen and Friesland, cbss is dedicated to innovation, youth, technology and solar boat racen.Voor this project, students of Mechanical Engineering & Leisure Management Stenden Emmen joined forces in order to race of Blauwestad to Leeuwarden each other. cbss
At this time, the students of Mechanical Engineering are working hard to develop a boat that is as sustainable as possible. Sustainability is in fact more important than speed, and therefore students must properly determine what materials they will use. Rick Scholten, 4th year student of Mechanical Engineering is involved in the development of the solar boat "Stenden participates in Challenge A, a class with a lot of high-tech and inventive power. We are committed to sustainability and therefore work with the natural product flax instead of the commonly used carbon. Combined with the solar panels we want Stenden Solarboat make it as sustainable cbss as possible. The solar boat is also streamlined the boat lighter than last year and better. "Is expected to be the boat around mid-May of 2014. The solar boat Stenden in 2012
The students of Leisure Management are busy with the preparations for the race. Through this project, they learn many learned to apply theory in practice, such as negotiating with suppliers and approaching sponsors. All promotional activities are also organized by the students of Leisure Management, such as dipping the boat in the center of Emmen on June 7, 2014. Also there in late June a sponsor dinner place.
The Stenden University comes with a durable boot produced is not accidental. The school was established in Emmen, Stenden PRE to strengthen. The entire knowledge chain with Applied Polymer Innovations Institute (API Institute, Emmen) and Emmtec Services (Nuon) a knowledge hub in Emmen in the field of sustainable plastics Stenden wants to lead in research and development and application of sustainable plastics and wants to prove with this solar boat.
